The maintenance or replacement of filters is essential to the proper functioning of an air conditioning and heating system. In addition, it can capture pollen and dust for comfort in the home.
There are several types of filters:
Cartridges should be washed in warm, soapy water every three (3) months. When cleaning, be careful when handling the dust sensor magnetic filaments as they may be damaged. If this filter is also equipped with a pre-filter, it must be replaced every 3 months. Lifetime of about 10 to 15 years depending on maintenance.
Permanent washable electrostatic filter:
This filter should be washed in warm soapy water every 3 (three) months. Rinse well and dry flat before repositioning. Lifetime of about 10 years depending on the maintenance.
HEPA filter (99.9% efficiency):
This filter must be replaced one (1) time per year or as needed.
- Disposable filter 1 “thickness: Must be replaced every (three) 3 months;
- Disposable filter 3 inches thick and over: Must be replaced every six (6) months;
Wall unit filter (air conditioner or heat pump);
Filters should be cleaned at least once a month. Wash the filters in warm, soapy water. Rinse well. Dry flat and put back in place.
Air exchanger filter:
It is important to wash the filters at every change of season. Some air exchangers have a disposable filter, so replace it. The recovery core must also be cleaned once a year.
The cartridge must be replaced one (1) time per year, ie in the fall before the heating starts.
NB: SINCE MAJOR WORK (PAINT OR SANDBLASTING) YOU MUST ABSOLUTELY STOP THE USE OF THE VENTILATION AS YOU WILL CLOSE THE CONDUITS AND FILTERS.
AT THE END OF THE WORK, IT IS APPROPRIATE TO CHECK THE STATUS OF FILTERS AND REPLACE THEM AS NECESSARY.
